Our Position in Prayer and in God's Ability Daily Devotion

Our Position in Prayer and in God's Ability Daily Devotion

I recently heard a testimony of Paul when he was in prison how he laid on the floor chained, to write his letters to the church. It was the type of prison that he could not stand up. How did he eat? How did he do the simple things of every day life? Yet, he wrote:

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

1 Corinthians 2:5 That your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God
Faith is such a common word in the church today: we hear sermons on the topic, we speak to each other "Keep the faith." But really? What is faith?
Faith means, "To be born of and joined to." Now isn't that amazing? You see when you are born of God we must realize that Jesus was the Door for the Father to enter into our hearts. That is why you can't enter into Rest on your own. When the Father entered in to our hearts it is His desire to live in our hearts in His Rest.

Here, when we allow God's Rest to be first we are born of and joined to His ability. That is why prayer is a position of living in God's Rest in our hearts, in vital commune with Him to us--first. Yet, faith is "Being an extension of His ability" through our words into the earth. Paul said, "Don't let your faith be in the ability of knowledge of men, but be born of and joined to God's Rest and His ability--which is His power." Now that is Good News!

LET'S TURN OUR HYMNALS TO:

JESUS IS THE LIGHTHOUSE

And I thank God for the lighthouse,
I owe my life to Him.
For Jesus is the lighthouse
And from the rocks of sin;
He has shone a light around me
That I could clearly see,
If it wasn't for the lighthouse
Tell me where would this ship be.

CONFESSION:

Father, today I realize that as I acknowledge Your Rest in me I choose to bask in Your presence and Rest with You. Thank You that I am born of You and joined to you in Your ability--which is faith. I choose to live by Your ability and practice releasing Your ability to take whatever I face today to force what is adverse to Your Peace to conform, and make Your enemies our footstool. I choose this place right here with You today, in Your Rest. In Jesus name. Amen.
